Classical Performance Tutu Course Level 1
Course Description: Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, our Classical Performance Tutu Course - Level One offers you the chance to both learn new skills and hone the skills you already have.
This seminar teaches it all, from the very start to the completed tutu, including figuring how much fabric you will need, cutting the layers, scalloping vs. dagging, panty construction, basque patterning and construction, various ruffling techniques, tricks for sewing the net on the panty, and much, much more. We will teach both time-honored techniques and many of our newest ideas and innovations, born from the Tutu.Com Shop - the only shop in the country that makes tutus every, single day.
Learn everything you need to know to make your own beautiful, professional, performance-ready Classical Tutus. You will learn several ruffling techniques, including Tutu.Comâs signature double-hand pleating method. As part of this class, you will receive âThe Classical Tutu Bookâ by Claudia Folts, her 57-step âCheat Sheetâ to help you remember the steps in order when you get home, plus her step-by-step, basque-patterning instructions, complete with full-color photographs and an easy-to-use math worksheet, designed by Elizabeth Ekey, of Tutu Theatre, a former TutuSchool graduate and now one of our tutu teachers, and introduction to a great measurement calculator designed by former TutuSchool student, Emily Raynor.
If you would like to continue your tutu training with detailed finish work, you will also want to sign up for Classical Tutu Finishing Techniques â The Art of Steaming/Hooping/Tacking. We do touch on these techniques in the Classical Performance Tutu class, but there simply is not enough time to go in-depth with these very valuable finishing techniques.
Prerequisites: Clothes or costume making experience; sewing-machine and hand-sewing skills. This course is not appropriate for those who do not yet know how to sew.Â
Class Length: 3 days. Also available as a Tutu Marathon course.  See Your Cityâs Seminar Online Calendar to Plan Your Schedule.
Payments: Tutu.com Courses are available for those attending TutuSchool. Cost for this course INCLUDES the class, the teacher, and all fabrics and notions. Payments are non-refundable, however a TutuSchools credit, less 10%, will be granted for use within one year at any of our seminar locations when requested more than 30 days in advance of your seminar. If you must drop out within 30 days of the class date, no credit will be issued. Pay in monthly installments with ShopPay or PayPal Credit.
