Wings and More Wings! Course Level 1 - Sylph and Wilis Wings

Course Description: Sylph and Wili Wings Level One Class provides all the information and hands-on experience to make your own delicate Sylph wings for Les Sylphides, or Wili wings for Giselle.

You’ll learn how to work with millinery wire, jewel wire, and soft tulle to make these traditional ballet-style wings; appropriate size for various choreography / variations; and different ways to attach the wings to a bodice.

For this class, you will need thread to match the white tulle used for these traditional wings, extra sewing machine needles (you may break a few!), some painter’s tape or masking tape, and a pair of safety glasses. You cannot take the class without safety glasses as you will be zigzagging over millinery wire. Inexpensive safety glasses can be purchased at Home Dept or Lowe’s. If you wear glasses already then you won’t need other safety glasses.

Bonus! Students will receive patterns and instructions for our basic fairy wings to take home with them.

Prerequisites: Machine and hand-sewing skills.
