Tiara and Headpieces Level 3 Course: Catherine Zehr Grand Duchess Tiara

Course Description: Learn how to make Catherine Zehr’s “Grand Duchess” Tiara Design - an elegant dramatic tiara, available to build in two color combinations - Crystal or AB Crystal. Both are perfect for any role requiring an air of sophistication and elegance.

As with all advanced-level kits, you are encouraged to make the design your own by arranging the stones supplied in any way you want! We encourage you to bring your own rhinestones and decorative gems to further personalize this design.

First three pictures are the tiara made with crystal 30ss rose montees. Last four pictures are the tiara made with AB Crystal 30ss rose montees.

Catherine Zehr, costume designer for New York-based touring company, Ballets with a Twist, is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, with a degree in Fashion Design. Catherine spent ten years working in the fashion industry for several major companies before going into costume design. She brought with her excellent pattern-making skills, and an understanding of the importance of having costumes and headpieces support the dancer and choreography, not over-shadow them. With twenty years’ experience as a costume designer, Catherine’s designs are elegant, enhancing both the dancer and the project. Her favorite part of the creative process, by far, is creating the headpieces. 

Prerequisites: Any Level Two Tiara Course, or send pictures of your work and a note detailing your experience with making tiaras to [email protected] for approval. Students must already know frame-building techniques and how to properly string both rose montees and chaton montees.

Payments: Tutu.com Courses are available for those attending TutuSchool. Cost for this course INCLUDES the class, the teacher, and all fabrics and notions. Payments are non-refundable, however a TutuSchools credit, less 10%, will be granted for use within one year at any of our seminar locations when requested more than 30 days in advance of your seminar.
