Costuming Fundamentals Course Level 1
Course Description: This class is a "MUST" for those starting on the costuming journey, even if you are a great home-sewer! This class has become very popular – so popular, in fact that we have had many requests to expand the class times, allowing for more detailed information and time to practice various techniques.
In Costuming Fundamentals Class you will learn how to properly flat-line, sew hooks and bars by machine as well as by hand, properly steam and press, perfect your seam allowances, properly use grainlines, make piping, work on proper hand-stitching, learn to properly use your serger, and much more. In short, learn all the oh-so-important, and often-forgotten, skills that are not taught in most sewing schools and colleges these days. We highly recommend you take this class if you have never made a bodice using professional costuming techniques.
Prerequisites: Clothes or costume making experience; sewing-machine and hand-sewing skills. This course is not appropriate for those who do not yet know how to sew. If you are new to dance costuming, Level One courses are a great place to start!
